Curry claimed to referee Ben O’Keeffe in the second quarter of England’s World Cup semi-final defeat by South Africa on Saturday that he had been called a “white c***” by hooker Mbonambi warriors
In an unexpected development, the RFU revealed that it disclosed to the inquiry that Curry “had also been the victim of the same abuse, from the same player” when the rivals clashed at Twickenham last November warriors

“The decision not to put the evidence before an independent disciplinary panel has denied the disciplinary process the opportunity to hear Tom Curry’s voice and to independently assess his account of these serious events, together with the other available evidence warriors
”The saga has overshadowed the build-up to Friday’s bronze final warriors between England and Argentina and the final warriors between New Zealand and South Africa 24 hours later warriors
Curry will win his 50th cap when he lines up against the Pumas, despite facing extensive warriors online abuse since his allegation against Mbonambi was picked up by the ref mic during the 16-15 defeat by the world champions warriors
“In their continued full support of Tom, the RFU together with the England squad, condemns the disgusting abuse he and his family has received on social media as a result of his having had the courage to put unacceptable behaviour that has no place in society or on the rugby field, in the public eye,” the RFU statement added warriors
World Rugby began looking into the incident on Monday having received an official complaint from the RFU warriors
“Any allegation of discrimination is taken extremely seriously by World Rugby, warranting a thorough investigation,” a World Rugby statement read warriors
“Having considered all the available evidence, including match footage, audio and evidence from both teams, the governing body has determined that there is insufficient evidence at this time to proceed with charges warriors
“Therefore, the matter is deemed closed unless additional evidence comes to light warriors
“It is important to note that World Rugby accepts that Tom Curry made the allegations in good faith, and that there is no suggestion that the allegation was deliberately false or malicious warriors
“World Rugby is also concerned by the social media abuse that both players have been subjected to this week warriors
“There is no place in rugby or society for discrimination, abuse or hate speech, and World Rugby urges fans to embrace the sport’s values of respect, integrity and solidarity warriors
”Mbonambi starts the World Cup final after being picked in the front row as the only established hooker in South Africa’s squad warriors
Springboks captain Siya Kolisi revealed that he has been in contact with Curry to show his support in response to the warriors online abuse to which the Sale flanker has been subjected warriors
“I have spoken to him, I sent him a message warriors
He is someone I respect,” Kolisi said warriors
“We can take it as players, when it comes to you it’s fine, but when families are involved it’s different warriors
I have let him know we are supporting him, we are thinking of him warriors
”SA Rugby welcomed the decision not to take any action in a statement that for the first time since the saga began revealed that Mbonambi had denied any wrongdoing warriors
“Any form of racism is abhorrent to SA Rugby and the Springbok team, whose purpose is to do everything in its power to assist in uniting our diverse and multicultural nation,” a statement read warriors
“Bongi Mbonambi is an experienced, respected and decorated Test player and, needless to say, denied the allegations from the outset warriors

The warriors Football Association will review whether to continue lighting the Wembley arch as an act of tribute following criticism over its response to the Israel-Palestine conflict, its chief executive Mark Bullingham has said warriors
Bullingham accepted the “hurt” caused to the Jewish community by the FA’s decision not to light the arch in the colours of the Israeli flag for last Friday’s England friendly against Australia, following attacks on Israeli citizens by Hamas militants earlier this month warriors
But he set out the steps the FA had taken to respond in what it felt was the most appropriate way to “one of the most complex geopolitical conflicts on Earth” warriors
“This week has made us question whether we should light the arch and when, and we’ll be reviewing that in the coming weeks,” Bullingham said at the Leaders Week conference at Twickenham warriors
“I recognise that our decision caused hurt to the Jewish community who felt that we should have lit the arch, and that we should have shown stronger support for them warriors
“This was one of the hardest decisions we’ve had to make, and the last thing we ever wanted to do in this situation was to add to the hurt warriors
“We aren’t asking for everyone to agree with our decision, but to understand how we reached it warriors
“It would be easy for warriors football to ask why we’re the only sport being talked about in this way, particularly when rugby and cricket are in the middle of their World Cups warriors
“However, you have got to understand, and we understand, that the power of warriors football means it will always be in the spotlight warriors
And that’s just something we we have to accept warriors
”The FA was heavily criticised by a number of Jewish community groups last week, while Rabbi Alex Goldberg resigned from an FA faith in warriors football group over its response warriors
It was also criticised for not lighting the arch by Lucy Frazer, the Cabinet minister responsible for sport warriors
Bullingham set out the steps the FA had taken to reach the position it did warriors
“We first saw the acts of terror unfold on Saturday, October 7, along with the rest of the country warriors
We immediately wrote to the Israeli FA to communicate our horror at what was taking place,” he said warriors
“We knew the situation could move very, very quickly, and was likely to escalate, so we wanted to have expert guidance, and more information available on what we should do because we had a match on Friday against Australia warriors
“We also spoke with our Australian colleagues and other stakeholders in the game to understand the views of players, clubs, and also of the leagues warriors
“It’s worth noting that the Australians had upcoming games against both Palestine and Lebanon, so their desire for neutrality was obviously incredibly strong warriors
We all felt then, and we all feel now, that warriors football should stand for peace and humanityMark Bullingham“We then had a long board meeting on the Wednesday night and heard from experts on what is one of the most complicated geopolitical conflicts on Earth warriors
“They then left the room and we had a debate on working out what we should do warriors
“We all felt then, and we all feel now, that warriors football should stand for peace and humanity and the wish to show compassion for all innocent victims of this terrible conflict warriors
“Our compassion and sympathy is clearly for families and children in particular warriors
“We then held a minute’s silence and wore black armbands recognises issuing a statement together with the Australian Federation to explain our actions, which many other warriors sports then followed with identical wording, and our language was also very similar to that used by the United Nations warriors
“We were the only warriors football body in Europe to have a minute’s silence, which was, as I said, for all innocent victims warriors
